INTRODUCTION
Peter is a non-traditional piano instructor with over 30 years of experience in piano performance and music instruction. For 18 years, he taught private in-home piano lessons to 31 students per week throughout West Vancouver and North Vancouver.
Peter’s students are motivated to practice and learn music — some as part of their musical exploration and creative growth, others to fulfill their Fine Arts requirements within the 5-Stripe Program at Collingwood School and Mulgrave School. Other students have achieved significant musical goals as multi-instrumentalists and were accepted into prestigious performance ensembles such as the TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival youth performance bands and local school honour bands. Some later completed music degrees and became professional Canadian songwriters and performers, while others competed in songwriting, singing, and music competitions across Canada.
Peter uses his qualifications and experience to teach students of all ages. He holds a Diploma in Jazz & Contemporary Music from MacEwan University and has completed five and a half years of post-secondary education in classical, jazz, and contemporary music. He is a certified NCCP coach and a certified instructor for Music for Young Children, Kindermusik, and Bumblebee Music. Peter is also a former Film and Television Agent, and is aware of the valuable opportunities that being creative can offer. In addition, he trained in vocal instruction with Angela Kelman, a Juno Award-winning artist. Peter continues to mentor and influence students of all ages locally and internationally.

Peter’s students are encouraged to progress as efficiently as possible while learning proper technique, musical foundations, confidence, creativity, and real-world skills. He also offers Artist Development, Performer & Producer Programs, and Artist Breakthrough Packages focused on songwriting, collaboration, stage presence, production, branding, and marketing.
Peter is a non-traditional piano instructor who prioritizes the music that inspires and motivates the student. While classical music is a style he deeply respects, performs, and teaches at a high level, students also regularly study genres such as Pop, Jazz, Rock, Funk, Hip Hop, Latin, Worship, Folk, film music, and contemporary YouTube music.

I offer highly qualified one-on-one and group instruction in music and artist development across multiple instruments, including piano, guitar, and vocals. I teach classical, contemporary, pop, jazz, EDM, worship, and Latin music styles. Instruction also includes performance, composition, music production, rock band coaching, recording, mixing, music theory, and pedagogy — all taught in a music-oriented studio environment in Deep Cove and scheduled at your preferred time whenever possible.
Zoom lessons are available upon request at the same rates listed and include as many integrated studio resources and learning tools as possible.
